Hotel Review: Gaylord Texan, Grapevine, Texas

Proudly welcoming visitors to the Dallas / Fort Worth area with its rustic elegance and down-home charm, the authentically southern Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center overlooking Lake Grapevine is situated on 4.5 acres of lush botanical gardens and winding waterways underneath an elaborate climate-controlled glass atrium.

Although we had previously attended the annual Ice exhibit held onsite each winter, a recent overnight stay afforded us the opportunity to spend more time exploring the vast property and indulging in its relaxing amenities. Our well-appointed suite with inward-facing balcony gave us a bird’s eye view of fine and casual dining venues like the Texan Station which houses a 52-foot TV screen, plus the Riverwalk Cantina with open-air cafe setting that replicates the famed San Antonio River Walk, and more. Upscale fashion boutiques, a western wear store, and a sundries market are among the hotel’s distinctive shopping venues; and the chic Glass Cactus Nightclub offers a sophisticated entertainment atmosphere and top musical talent.

The 50-minute full-body customized massage received at the nationally-renowned award-winning Relache Spa was definitely a highlight of our trip as well. The 25,000-square-foot European-styled day spa offers a variety of massage experiences, body treatments, and aromatherapies in addition to manicures, pedicures, signature botanical facials, and much more on their complete menu of services. Guests are also invited to relax their muscles in the outdoor pool with hot tub or take a dip in the 20-meter indoor lap pool.

The hotel’s exclusive western-themed Paradise Springs resort pool is open seasonally from Memorial Day through Labor Day and features a lazy river and waterpark adventures along with lawn games, sunbathing decks, private cabanas, and full-service pool bar and grill. Nearby local attractions include Six Flags Over Texas, the Dallas Cowboys home AT&T Stadium, as well as Texas Rangers playing field Globe Life Park. Tours buses also intermittently depart from the grounds on a number of excursions including the very popular Grapevine Wine Tours which we highly recommend for wine connoisseurs interested in visiting a variety of quality local wineries.

Allow plenty of time for full enjoyment of this exceptional vacation destination fittingly deemed “as grand as Texas itself.” The Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center is located at 1501 Gaylord Trail, Grapevine, Texas 76051, and reservations can be made by calling (817) 778-1000.
